I just finished this and have mixed feelings. Are his novels any better? Is Alt-Lit a meme?

As a fan of most of Bret Easton Ellis' work, I decided to give Tao Lin a try. I enjoyed the novel for the most part, although it really just felt like Less Than Zero lite. More mundane yet less grotesque (which I sort of appreciated).

I mean, I enjoyed reading it, but by the end I can't help but question the merits of authors such as Tao Lin. The scenes from the jail were really well done, but that was a relatively small chunk of the novel.

Thoughts? Are any of his longer works worth checking out?
