Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, or the complete works of Marquis de Sade? In a few days, I hope to buy one or the other...but not both. Help me decide which to buy.

Also, what do people think of him? NLMG and TROTD are pretty good, The Unconsoled is bad, and everything else is decent. I guess. I used to read him a lot.

I own about 350 books, about 250 of which are on my shelves, the okay and good books, and about 100 of which are in the attic, the bad books. Due to storage problems. Also, so I don't have to look at them.

I decided, since I'm really poor, to get rid of some of the attic books. I've picked out 20, which I shall mention some of in a minute, and sell them to a local bookstore. I doubt I'll get much a book, but I'm not sure. Together, I'll get a bit.

The books include Salem's Lot, The Stranger, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer / Huck Finn, and others. How does this make you feel?

I know this is only semi-relevant, but it didn't seem worth starting a new thread about it.

Is it my imagination, or does Lazlo Jamf turn up in Inherent Vice? I just reread it, and there are two characters towards the end, mentioned in passing: Lazlo and Ilse. I assume that's a reference to Lazlo Jamf and Ilse Pokler?

I can't speak for others, but I liked it quite a lot. Better than most of Flaming Pinecone's stuff. Relatively simple, but interesting, and set in the late 60s. I liked it. Could've been 50% longer.

I'm thinking of getting Trainspotting, or maybe The Notebook of Maya. I want to get 120 Days of Sodom. I'm not sure. Maybe something else. Depends what they have, and how much it costs.

Thought it was mediocre the first time, although better than similar books, e.g. Catcher and Wallflower. There was something charming about the prose, though. Plus, I like reading the books of authors who killed themselves. What does /lit/ think? It's not like it's a long read, about 200 pages?
