i don't read but i want to. Where do you guys think i should start

He came on me, like the first drops of water spouting out a fire hydrant in the heavy summer air, admist the school bus fire that swirled before us.

I'm looking for fantasy series that will leave me overawed by the author's imagination. Any series with vivid descriptions near poetry and incredible landscapes that make you feel insignificant compared to their immensity. There's just something about reading incredible depictions of fantastical nature and architecture that makes my boner rock hard.

Are there ANY good books out there for would-be novel writers?

I've already read the Lite-Memoirs that everyone suggests (King's "On Writing", Atwood's "Negotiating with the Dead", Baxter's "Burning the House Down") but those are more guides of how to write in that author's style rather than general suggestions on the craft of writing itself.
