How about "The Murderbot Diaries" by Martha Wells? The titular character is a cyborg (i.e. machine parts with cloned human parts), but has hacked his governor chip & is now free from human control, though he keeps that secret. The humans he works for irritate him because they know nothing about security & put themselves in all sorts of needless danger. He hates his job & spends most of his free time watching downloaded media.
