the divine comedy has a bit were virgil and dante show up at the gate of dis, the city of hel, and virgil is like: "sup demons, the big man in the sky tasked me with touring dante all over hell, all the previous judges from each circle allowed us to pass after I told them i was assigned by the G himself. anyways, can you open the gate so we can come in? thanks"
and the demons are like: "why would we care about what god says you idiot? we ARE demons, we literally fought against heaven. tell him to fuck off"
and so god has to send an angel to force the demons to open the gate
