He was a mystic in the proper sense of the word, yes (someone initiated into the deeper 'mysteries'), but it has nothing to do with "mysticism" as it is known on 4channel.

Read 'Perspectives on Initiation' where Rene Guenon (pbuh) retroactively refutes mysticism literally on the first page.
