>get rejected from because missed grade Oxford
>fuck I'll just resit
>covid happens
>resit students don't get new grades (we only learn this ON results day)
>parents force me to go through clearing
>do it late, the only Uni with placements is Swansea and Essex
>hate my time at swansea
>want to go anywhere else
3 years and I've been running in place. I'm in hell.

Alright, I'm about to start my English Literature degree in a week. What books should I read to prepare? Are there books you must have under your belt before pursuing such a degree?

Just from a passing glance, I could tell, through his slacked jaw, vacant eyes, and the sluggish way in which he walked, that this man was undoubtedly an idiot. A dullard. A dolt. An unequivocal retard.

I'll be real with you man, I gave up on being ambitions when Oxford turn me down so I'm not the best guy to ask, like i did student president, straight A's, volunteer work, internships at law firms where they even promise to train me after I get a degree, the whole thing. But now I'd rather live Maine and read all day then get back in the rat race. I'm sure you're aware that law is very competitive and very over saturated, unless you go to one of the top 12 Uni's in your country it's just going to be another "business job." You get a little more autonomy (depending on the firm size) but it's still just paper work - even at a higher level, there's no guarantee it'll make you happy. There's more to take pride in and it's probably more intellectually engaging sometimes. A lot of law work is reading files and admin work; freelancing is just asking for bankruptcy. 100k is already good and even if the work is crushing, I doubt it'll be as arduous as a 100k legal job. Do what you want but you have a sure thing going, if that's not good enough, go for Law, but I'll tell you, it's not as glamorous as people think: it's just another job in an office.
