I'm only 17 but I have pretty much outranked all the teachers and now professors who ever taught me. I've been taking college courses since freshman year of high school (well, college-level courses, anyway). Now, even though I'm still in high school, I also take an upperlevel math class at the local community college every morning (it's preparation for going to an ivy league school next year). I mean I already applied to Harvard and everyone says I will get a fullride. I excel in every subject in school, both German and Latin, sciences, math/stat, and of course English. I started reading philosophy last year but I'm already better than anyone I know. Like I wrote an essay on Dante's Inferno but since I already read Nietzsche (who may be the only person I know is smarter than me, even though he was a nazi) I just said "the void stared back" and my teacher took off points but it was because he was too dumb to even get the reference. Or like this other guy in my history class (who people think is smart but isnt) said he liked to read and I asked him if he ever read Marx (who hasn't?) but he's like "no, Marx was just some guy sitting in a london garden" or something, as if he knew better than the best economist ever haha. Bet he doesn't even really read. I've published short stories and poems in my school's quarterly creative work zine. I love pomo lit (you know Infinite Jest is my shit) and Finnegan's Wake and Gravity's Rainbow (I'm going to be the next Kafka cum Joyce cum Pynchon). Besides, I've already finished about 90% of the classics.
As for extracirriculars, I trained to be an EMT but stopped because of the hours. I play 1st bassoon and I'm a god at the world's greatest sport: chess (before you start calling me lazy, I did x-country in freshman year). Haha, I even tutor people to play chess, going rate is $50 an hour and I have one regular student and two semi-regulars. I tried getting into texas holdem but it was too gay.

Just the fact that you said that shows that you are new.
Don't waste your time on 4chan now, the golden age is over.

That fell when I am probably going to publish a poetry book in the next couple of months.

How should I feel?

To add on this GREAT topic. What is better, liberal arts or philosophy?

I just read "Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?" by Joyce Carol Oates and loved it.

Based on this, what else of hers would you recommend?

Any short stories by other authors I should read?
