1. those who are not born yet do not exist therefor no statement about their being can be made

2. truth is the essence of the world. An idea that leads to death can never be true. Antinatalist literally wipe themselves out.

3. antinatalist, like vegans, want to reduce suffering. But only beings with high intellect can be antinatalist, while less intelligent animals go on living and suffering. So if antinatalist were true, animals would suffer then reach high enough intelligence to be antinatalist and die. Endless suffering. Only hope is to keep living and reproducing to find a solution to suffering.

Hello, I'm going to study English Lit in September with the aims of arming myself with a repertoire of knowledge and insight to write short stories. This is a short psychological horror story I wrote last year. Please tell me what you think.

https://youtu.be/LgCP98h-Bjk

I enjoy reading everything from history to philosophy to classical literature. I am looking for a purpose in my life and enough money to pursue my intellectual and somewhat hedonistic interests. That is to say, I want to expand my knowledge and understanding and get fucked up on drugs and alcohol. I also have an awareness that the study of logic and mathematics will be an indispensable tool in honing my understanding of the laws governing nature and it is my belief that the highest peaks attainable in this area available to us in our time in history is the purpose and direction which should guide civilised men's time on our Earth and that through this endeavour we can alleviate physical suffering through science and technology and personal suffering through philosophy. I have pursued and indeed felt love and it is a very strong force in our motivations in life. Though I am not yet old, I am aging and coming to an age where love can take a hiatus for a decade or so. Perhaps I will meet someone with whom I would like to share my life, but my personality structure is such that I find the minds of others an impediment to the enjoyment of my own thoughts. If you actually read this whole post, please do let me know what you think of my story. Perhaps one day I'll sell one million copies of a book and enjoy the rest of my life in the pursuit of both stimulating and disturbing minds and expanding my own. ;)

When I try to read poetry I sometimes can't figure out which syllables are emphasised and it really gets on my nerves. Shakespeare's Sonnets are great because it's really clear which syllables are stressed and all the lines have the same amount of syllables and are clearly divided into Iambs, but not all poems are like that. I was reading a poem yesterday and I was trying to figure out it's meter but the lines didn't all have the same amount of syllables, which really triggered my OCD, and that made it impossible to divide the lines into feet. Please help me learn how to identify stressed and unstressed syllables in poems. I don't know how to read them in my mind and it's giving me a lot of anxiety.

Hey friends, sorry to make a post just for this, but there isn't any of those threads for questions that don't deserve their own threads so you are stuck with this shitpost...
Tried to look for non anonymous forums and imageboards... they all seem pretty dead. Do you use any besides /lit/?

I'm simple when it comes to my taste, in books and movies. I prefer horror stuff and even better if its schlocky, gory and pulpy

My favourite are the first two Drive-In books by Joe Lansdale, as I love body horror. I've tried a couple of books by Aron Beauregard but it feels like he cares way more about the blood and gore and has no interest in creating an interesting story or compelling characters. Are his buddies Matt Shaw or Kris Triana any better?
Similar books in tone to those Drive-In novels?

Any literary theory books suggestions? Not the basic stuff that explains what a metaphor and a hyperbole is, but something with more interesting and original ideas. Maybe essays on the subject, or anything goes really

If you could wake up tomorrow and find yourself in the world of any novel, which novel would it be and why?
