So /lit/ would you say that William Gibson had an extremely prophetic view of the future or that his works helped shape the ideas of the technophiles who would create the future?

Also how do you feel about Neuromancer and Gibson as an author? I thought the novel was great and his prose felt almost like a dark, metallic poetry.

So many words and names to keep track of, I feel like I only remember half of what I read after finishing it, although I really liked it.

Is there a good summary of it online?

Does anyone know any books that are similar in writing style to William Gibson's "Neuromancer?" Not in storyline but in writing style--the man used 5 syllabled words and made up his own. I don't know whether he was on acid or what but he wrote a pretty crazy faux-prose book and never did it again.

Just saw this thread in /tv/ an I thought it mite b cool to have it her as well.

>I'm really intrigued about whether or not they will make a good movie out of Neuromancer, it seems to be a tough book to turn into one atleast. Vincenzo Natali is rumored to direct it and I think he can pull it off.

So I made a list here of who I would like to see in this piece.

>Case: Lee Pace (The Fall, Pushing Daisies)
>Molly: Shannyn Sossamon or Rebecca Romijn (might be too old)
>Armitage: Josh Brolin or Kris Kristofferson
>Peter Riviera: Jared Leto or Jude Law
>Lady 3Jane Marie-France Tessier-Ashpool: Natalie Portman or Rosario Dawson
>Old man Ashpool: Anthony Hopkins
>The Finn: Peter Stormare
>The Dixie Flatline: William Fichtner
>Wintermute: Tom Waits
>Neuromancer: ??
>Julius Dean: Ian McKellen
>Hideo: Hiroyuki Sanada (Sunshine, The Last Samurai)
>Ratz: David Bowie
>Linda: Jessica Biel or Jewel Staite

I just got this book in the post today /lit/. It was recommended to me by some people I know and I have started reading the first chapter.

Seems good so far, has anyone else read it?

Cyberpunk - Gotta love it. Probably my favorite (sub)genre of fiction anywhere.

Agree? Disagree? Why? Got a favorite work? Working on something yourself?

Me:
- Favorite work: Woken Furies - Richard K. Morgan
- Working on a novella (which may turn into a novel)

I've always thought the recent UK covers of the Sprawl trilogy have been rather shit.

What does /lit/ think of Neuromancer? I just finished it - Personally I love the Jungian symmetry in Case/Molly and Wintermute/Neuromancer
