People here, that is. I doubt they've release sales figures yet. It's like this board goesn't give a fuck about Pinecone anymore. You know what's truly scary, though? This board has stopped caring about DFW and IJ as well, which is amazing.

And other pointless things? This clearly drains time from writing, which means slower released and worse books for us. Look at Wallace at Amherst, Zades at Cambridge, Diaz at MIT (lol). It's like they want us to not have good books on a fairly fast schedule?

There's this book I've wanted to read for a couple of months, but I'm poor and it's short, i.e. bad value for money. So today, when I saw it in Waterstones, I just took it off the bookshelf, and read it for an hour and a half sitting on the (sort of) comfy sofa. Got through about 60 pages.

I will probably go back tomorrow and resume it, and do this on (I would think) a third day, until I've gotten through it (it's only 200 pages long, roughly).

Bookstores are light and love. Am a horrible person for doing this?

Has /lit/ even read it? I still find it amazing, all the ostensible Wallace fans who have only read Infinite Jest.

I think Waterstones sell an ereader, but obviously they are mainly selling paper books, and a few other things. I've heard they're doing quite well these days. Whenever I go in, their store is fairly busy where I live.

I'd be miserable if they went under. In the last 5 years, I've been in on average once a week to that store, and apart from buying, it's just a great place to be, e.g. relaxing, comfortable, nice staff, etc. I dunno. I hope it doesn't go under, but who knows?

I can't think of anything objectively wrong with it, based on my understanding of the English language, and lit in general. But it's fucking horrible, like having hot pokers in your eyes. Fuck present tense.
