LMAO at the Durling translation. "Ritrovarsi" is a reflexive verb, not "idiosyncratic syntax", and English has a literal equivalent too, "to find oneself". Translating "mi ritrovai" as "I came to myself" is not even a literal translation because the Italian sentence is not parsed like that. It's complete nonsense, unless "mi ritrovai" is interpreted as "I awakened", which is a stretch (the more appropriate word choice for that is "mi svegliai"). Also "diritta" is "right" (as in "righteous"), not "straight".
