Why do women read more than men? As a man, I'm saddened by the fact that so few of us take the time to learn one of the greatest foundations of human thought and creativity. It's even worse knowing that because of this imbalance, fantasy, science fiction, and even literary fiction have all trended towards political issues like LGBTQ+, feminist lit, diasporic lit, queer lit, etc...

There have been stories by women that I've genuinely enjoyed specifically because they bucked the above trends, but they're far and few, and I feel like literature is suffering for its lack of these kinds of writers. Why do women read more than men? I've seen Hunger posted here a few times but not this. I think it is a profoundly beautiful book and even better than Hunger, which is also good. It is very calming and one of the comfiest things I've ever read. Thoughts?

This is quite a nice book about a man raising a farm and family in the mountains. Mainly goes into depth about the relation between man and nature and man and his work. Not exactly what you asked for but it's worth reading nonetheless.

Is this Knut's best book?

Reviews say that nothing happens for 400 pages. I read Huner and didn't like it that much, but I liked that it was about blood and soil
