The problem with anti-natalism isn't that he hasn't committed suicide. The problem with Benatar's position is that it is the byproduct of the Angloid worldview, born out of American-English life denying bullshit. Just don't give Angloids the benefit of the doubt anymore, ignore their being-towards-extinction takes. They either want to blow up the planet or make everyone depressed as fuck.

Can we talk about Tolkien's prose for a little bit? I posted this on a Silmarillion thread but that's been archived/forgotten. I'm currently rereading LOTR and the Entmoot is about to happen (so I'm more or less in the beginning of the Two Towers). Even though I still like the books as much (or perhaps more) than when I was a kid and teenager, there's somethink wonky or odd about Tolkien's prose at certain points. It goes from beautiful to unclear in a matter of paragraphs, there seems to be some great inconsistency at work here. Do you know any article/essay/paper/piece of scholarship that discusses this aspect of LOTR?

Don't read theory. Read poetry. Read it in your native language, read it in your second language, read it in direct translation, read it in indirect translation. Write a few verses, become ashamed of yourself and trash them. Learn folk poetry and write it (if you can play an instrument, even better). Go out in the world, plant your feet in the sand, in a mound of dirt. Take a dip in the salty seas or swim in a nearby lake. Just please don't read theory. It is boring, nobody cares about it, it isn't illuminating. It won't help you understand the poets, nor will it make you a better poet. It's just a black hole of death.
