I am amazed at the fact that she was able to somehow grab attention of so much readers among so many damn near identical novels. And when I say identical I am talking about nearly identical plots. characters, heck even book covers.
That took some work. Or luck.

>Old man's war?
Read it. And kept reading until Scalzi turned into a soccer mom somewhere along the line.
The last mil sci-fi novel that caught my attention was the Cry Pilot by Joel Dane. And that novel read like corporate propaganda from the future.
Between the usual Baen Books crap, the spec ops in space and the just plain crap there isn't a lot to go on.

Book marketing is bad now, this fucking ripped but both the cover, title and description were all so generic I almost didn't bother.
