But besides that: Assigning a symbol to an object only makes it more shallow, because it narrows it in your mind. A lightbulb is a lightbulb, an eye is an eye. It's better to think about those things as they are, not adding any frills and bells or creating special rituals around them. I would even go further - try to strip them from that context and assigned meaning, as much as you can. That way you could appreciate them in the broader light. There's nothing more beautiful than tiny imperfections of the world, little irregularities of reality and clouding your vision with symbols and rituals sounds like the best way miss them.
