Recent finished pic related.
Looking for more Samurai and Ninja shit. Are there any must reads in the genre?
Was looking at Taiko next since its by the same author.

I read pic related and had a blast. Want to read more books in the genre but dont know where to go from here.

Pic related is amazing. It will help you with your life. Do not be intimidated by the setting, you do not need to really know anything about Japanese history to read it, but you will learn a little in the process. It is set just after the battle of Sekigahara in 1600 and follows Musashi's quest to become the greatest swordsman ever. Truly an epic tale

I, Claudius and Claudius the God are both good books as well but the author takes many liberties with accurate depictions of the characters

Musashi starts off as a rage filled tough guy, who then drastically changes for the better

also worth watching is Inagaki's Samurai Trilogy which is an adaptation of this book

I rarely buy physical copies anymore but this is definitely worth getting.

Who else read this, for example. Was it... dare I say it.... good?

If could recommend similar ones (as in no frills and straight to the point writing style, historically minded without being arid, etc.) that would be sweet, it's literally the only novel that kept me hooked from the beginning to the end.
