The sand tickled Michael’s feet. He loved going to the park and playing in the sandbox and he especially loved fact that he could be so close to his mother. As he built castle-like sand mounds he imagined what the future held for him. He loved imagination and the sand only helped him exceed the barriers of reality. His mom gave him the name Michael because he truly was a guardian angel. A blessing she almost forgot. Although Michael was 5 he still remembers that day clearly. His mom was always intoxicated under the “sleepy juice.” Some nights he saw her knock back the sauce. He knew that it would kill her one day. On may 21 of this year she had almost drank herself to death. She had her stomach pumped on site by paramedics. Michel sat there stunned in awe over the realization that his mother was imperfect. He realized that his super hero can fall to something as simple as “sleepy juice.”
