I'm drunk, let's do this.

Isn't it awesome how in Martian Timeslip, when the MC is called to his boss' office, and when he walks in experiences his first schizophrenic episode? He believes himself to pierce the fabric of reality, and realises that the boss isn't really a man, but a machine. The voice issuing from it wasn't a human voice, but a recording playing from a tape. Just an unthinking machine, as alive as a toaster. And he responds, because somewhere he knows that it's expected. And then, when he leaves, and reality resumes its normality, he still secretly believes that what he saw was the true reality wherefrom all obstructive symbols had been removed. It was rad.

Or how about the communal hallucinations of The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch? Weren't they fucking funny? Imagine it: a whole community, bored as shit, toiling away on Mars on subsistence farming. But then at night! That's what they live for. They break out their Barbie and Ken playset, consume the drugs, and then enjoy a shared hallucination in a materialistic fantasy land. It's fucking great.

Or, or, how about in The Man in the High Castle, when the SS officer reads the contraband book The Grasshopper Lies Heavy (which depicts the Allies winning the war, but gets it wrong (at least the superficial details)), wherein Hitler is captured and hung in the Nuremburg trials. Wasn't it fucking insightful, how Dick has the SS officer shed a tear at the nobility of Hitler's failure, and ignomious funeral? Doesn't he just fucking "get it," and see the doomsday drive that existed in the Nazi dogma. They wanted a Wagnerian tragedy, and he saw it.

Dick thread. Get your Dicks out.
