As a society? well we'd have to give up on worshipping companies and understand that clothes are not something to discard every month. But thats not going to happen so perhaps we should encourage people to value their attire more not just as in a sense of fashion but that it should last for a long time and thus people would reflect on the practical application of their attire.

As an individual we should consider mainly the materials of the product and genuinely if they are that valuable, we should also be content with them being ruined or stained because that will happen. Choice clothing that you feel genuinely comfortable in but also suits the purpose of your job.
