Just finished this shit. Yes, it's just a YA and offers you nothing if you are over 15 years old.
Even the Cuckker books were more enjoyable than this.

I have just read the first 100 pages and it doesn't feel that good at all. Despite what everybody says (even the author), it reads like YA.
The main character has a quite high opinion of himself but nothing feels merited and it's all stupid thoughts - that could be alright, if it simulates his child mind and perhaps he grows up later?
But the promised "grim dark" elements don't really happen. Even though there is a lot of killing and mentions of rape and torture, none of that is descriptive at all. So what is supposed to be so good about this? Does it get better?

Something I enjoyed more was the First Law trilogy simply based on Glokta's cynical personality.
Here I have a child acting tough but that's it.
