You might enjoy this book. It deflates a lot of scientific and religious nonsense that surrounds debate surrounding meditative practices. Also argues for the usefulness of actually living the philosophy as opposed to merely "lifehacking" with sitting sessions minus deeper insight so to speak.

Meh. We have Phenomenology now. We've had new thought and new age galore. The academic study of religion grows and grows.

What is proposed as enlightenment should be observable -- yet not a single person has demonstrated evidence for vertical causality -- instead we have merely observed that mind and matter exist within a strange loop. And perhaps eastern thought is considered too much as other when it is indeed kin to western. Pic related.

Things like siddhis remain especially dubious and deflated notions of enlightenment (as well as sociological approaches to magic) are far superior.

Ya. Hegel is better. Nevertheless, people like Hadot and Uzdavinys and Sloterdijk and Nussbaum have all addressed this in their own way. Philosophy as practice and technique and training. Not to mention all the work on individuation -- which IMO is more interesting in a deleuzeanguattarian chaosmotic genesis framework than a jungian guenonian initiatic purity spiral.

We all know that Buddhism is a superstitious eastern religion usually wielded as a fetish by positive thought corporate junkies and whatever's clever stoner hippies, but I am interested in extracting the anthropotechnics of bodhicitta as a skeptical scientific western philosopher. What books on the subject should I read? Pic related.
