Have you ever bought a book in the wrong language? I ordered a copy of pic related and when it came today, it was in French.

This one always struck me as a "trapped in/by your own mind" story although it's not specifically about isolation.

What are some science fiction books that feature not just interesting ideas, but also good prose?

Can someone put this emotion I'm having into words?

I recently finished Solaris. In the time it took me to read the first two books of Cormac McCarthy's Border trilogy, I could've read something like 5 or 10 Solarises.

It feels similar to rage. Now that I've read a book where the setting itself is at least 50% of the philosophy being pushed, I get mad every time I look at anything written by Cormac McCarthy and realize how useless his setting is to his philosophy (talking about Blood Meridian here). Aside from just exacerbating the "wild-lawless-west" cliche.
