fuck this book.

i finished it but that was on sufferance.
such an impressively hate filled book .

i never finished martin amis's Lionel Asbo .I knew that if i did i would never read another Amis book ever again.

This probability works as an existentialist novel and every few pages the is a line worthy Sartre or Beckett but the sheer misery distilled into the prose makes it a hard read .

Problem is the character is in such a pathetic state but the book treats it as kind of enlightenment or as the inevitable result of intellect . And current, not depressed, me just found it annoying .


The kind of book that made me realize that if I dont finish it in one sitting I i wont finish it at all. there was no chance I was coming back to it
