about reclusives, there is a writer in my hometown (Curitiba, Brazil) that is also a reclusive, actually pretty similar to Pynchon although he is 12 years older than Thomas.
Name is Dalton Trevisan, he walks around the city, sometimes is seen by a vegetarian restaurant or a very traditional bookstore here. If one comes asking him, he just says he is not the writer asks to be left alone. 93 years old, gave 1 interview in his lifetime, when he was younger, in which the interviewer lied to him saying he would not record it but did. I am actually very privileged of having such writer in my city, because basically all of his books take place in this city, so if I am reading one of his books, in 30min I can go to some place he mentioned in the book, this is very comfy.
