I think it depresses me with the recent influx of young men looking for purpose on this board, that they seem to hope that some philosophy book they're recommended will somehow crack the nut of untapped wokeness they've imagined exists in their psyche.

At what point will people come to accept that the biggest lessons in philosophy stem from literature about personal struggle? Twain, Beckett, E.Ellis, Tartt and so on.

I don't think i've ever nurtured a single philosophy into my own personal life that wasn't through empathizing with very real, and very regular lives.
