The Eternal Recurrence of the same is the most profound philosophical idea of the last 150 years. By the idea of the Eternal Recurrence Nietzsche was able to valuate life in the domain of life, thereby not extrapolating, but interpolating values and meaning. No longer is there need of a "Hinterwelt", because everything that happens in this world is the only thing that will ever happen forever. It therefore is the last and total affirmation of life. The idea of the eternal recurrence is not easy; I grabbled with it seriously for over a year, but now I finally got it. Nietzsche gave us an idea which gives us a fundament to build our house of values on. He is the philosopher of the hammer, but a hammer is not only used to smash things.
