Also, since we're talking about out of print multi-volume books on the ACW, I might as well recommend "Battles and Leaders of the Civil War." It's a collection of eyewitness accounts of the war by veterans from both sides, originally published in a magazine between 1887-88. All four volumes have been digitized and are freely available via OSU, you can find them by a quick google search.
