Pessoa is my gf's favorite author.
She also likes Céline, Mishima, and even reads Evola.

She does not like my man Houellebecq though.

I don't read authors who's physiognomy I dislike, but Houellebecq's novels looks interesting to me. Is he worth making an exception for? And if so, where do I start with this goofy looking nigga

Women are empty inside. They have no internal moral compass (they get their sense of what's right and wrong entirely from the people around them), no real passions or talents, no drive for intellectual pursuits, nothing but a vague wish to APPEAR. Appear "not like the other girls", i.e. better than them, so they can attract high quality males to have high quality babies. That's it. That's the entirety of the female mindset. They'd die before admitting it, but all their thoughts and actions, from choosing their college courses to wear cute clothes, are motivated solely by that basic prime directive: appear better than the other females to attract the highest quality sperm. Everything else is a rationalization of that instinct.

Since they're empty inside, they tend to focus on the external, which means BUY SHIT. Women are always by far the highest spenders in most industries, and the publishing one is no exception. Since they represent the majority of the customers, market logic dictates that the industry should cater to them. Hence, the utter garbage published in the last decades.

Take back your women, white man. Bring them back to heel before they destroy you and themselves.

What's /lit/'s consensus on Houellebecq? I'm reading Serotonin right now and I'm liking it, but I can see why many of you would say they don't like him

Germfag here. I wanted to buy "Serotonin(e)" yesterday. I went to a bookshop and asked for the "new Houellebecq". The shop assistant asks me: "How do you spell Houellebecq?" in return. Seriously, what the fuck. She's selling fucking books and doesn't know who the fuck Michel Houellebecq is.

Houellebecq's point is that the dynamics of the sexual marketplace, like any free market, trend inexorably towards monopoly. There is an elite class of men who have an enormous amount of sex, while the bottom 80% have none or significantly less.

In Extension of the Domain of the Struggle, Tisserand is describly as hideously ugly. He tearfully admits to the narrator (who is clearly Houellebecq himself) that he is still a virgin in his late 20s. Houellebecq says in interviews that he was a virgin until his mid-to-late 20s too, but he was never as hideously ugly as he described Tisserand. The ugly shots of Houllebecq (pic related) were mostly taken after his dog died (which happened a year or so after a girlfriend broke up with him). This interview (https://www.ft.com/content/651b5c58-3120-11e6-ad39-3fee5ffe5b5b)) describes him as elegant and handsome

Lads, this year has been perhaps the worst in my life. I am losing my mind. I started the year as a pretty normal person. I don't even really know what happened, but I have watched myself decay in my mirror every morning. Last night, I went to bed watching an ASMR video. And it actually felt good. I pray there is escape from this hell.

Btw. Michel... easy with the wine. (God, he looks so awful nowadays).

Don't read contemporary fiction if you want to learn about literature. It's like listening to top 40 bands to learn about music. 99% of everything hailed as genius is shit. Every decade will produce 100 great books worldwide, and one undisputed work of genius.

Read the classics.
