From personal experience--without making this a LiveJournal--I am a "White Hispanic" whatever that means, went to public school with "more real Latinos" and felt incredibly alone and had identity crises at age 11. I've been thinking about my privilege since I was 11 and before it was a buzzword wishing so badly to be poorer and darker skinned. This has caused me some trauma, and in general and amongst other normal trauma that comes with being a human of intelligent at least a couple of standard deviation above the median, I am often in psychic pain that I think these people who communally smile and cry and rage and scream in the streets cannot feel. I wouldn't call it depression as I am capable of moments of total bliss, but basically I am a navel-gazing cyclothymic who thinks the entire concept of systemic racism is near worthless because it feeds into societal identities which chokes the soul and is based pretty simply on the idea that if black people were white they would automatically be 'happier' or 'better':
