I've just spent more than three hours reading the first two chapters of Mountains of Madness. My mind wanders so easily and I'll sit and stare at the same line for don't know how long before I come to my senses and realize I was reading a book. I have always had problems with concentrating but It's painfully evident when reading. Please help me /lit/ I need advice.

I just finished reading my first Lovecraft, The Rats in the Walls. I found his writing style to be a little stiff and impersonal, but if anything that just added to the atmosphere of the story. I'm not sure if I would call it scary, but it was a deeply creepy and disturbing. What stories should I read next?

The dog is the Fall of the Man. After thousand of years, a common dog is subjugated in mind and body from birth-- if you kick him for stealing food, he'll expose his belly to show submission, and then commit the crime again as soon as you give him your back.
The cat is the Rebirth of the Man. If he does not like you, if you haven't won his respect, he'll eat your food and then walk away from you, and kicking him will make him run away or scratch you, and if you really offend him he'll ujst wander away from your house altogether.
