Should I bother?

What's the general opinion on Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever over here? I hate how everyone in there is an unlikable hippy, the protagonist is a whiny jerk and the villain is cartoonish. But ti has good world building.

What everyone's opinion on the Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever series. I can't decide whether I like or hate it. On one hand, it has good world building, on the other the hero is an unlikable whiner, the villains are the most cliche lolevil bunch I've ever seen and everyone else is a pussy. I get that "feelings" is kinda the gimmick of the world he goes to, but it's still corny or even cringeworthy at times.
