I am applying for a masters in medieval lit at oxford and need some help. I want to write about the symbolic way medieval people wrote in and how scholastic philosophy influenced that. So far I am thinking TS Eliot, etienne gilson, stanzas by agamben, dante and st bede along with piers plowman as a basis. Anyone else got suggestions?

I used to be a nihilist until I realized that reproduction and other elements of a being's natural identity (i.e natural drives, categories) constitute a natural meaning for it's life. "Self-selected" meaning exists on top of this as well, such as person's occupation, hobbies, philosophical attitudes, etc. Language, including the "language of reality" (i.e physics, metaphysics) is nothing if not meaningful. Spoken and written languages allow communication of things. The language of reality signifies what is possible.
I feel better now.
