Yeah, the characters being changed into cartoonish buffoons one of the reasons I dislike the movies but for me, it was turning the story into an action setpiece to another action setpiece. That alone just takes away so much from the theme and philosophy of the book.

I just hate movies adaptations of books (and really movies in general). It always bastardizes so much from the book while making the entire experience passive rather than imaginative. Hollyweird rarely ever gets adaptations correct, nor do they ever understand that books and movies are two different mediums.
