Exactly.
Although philosophy used to be about useful things...the subject lost large parts of itself.
What was one called 'natural philosophy' is now called 'science', and has blossomed into several fields, leaving philosophy less to do.
Philosophy is a big part of religion, but that involves unfalsifiable statements, such as the belief in deities and other nonphysical entities, making it not part of philosophy's purview.
Even logic, long a domain of philosophy, has largely moved into the mathematics field.
They can't even argue about philosophers of the past, because that is rightly part of the field of history.
So what are they left with? Unless they can figure that out, philosophy will remain a hollow shell of its former self.
Philosophy should return to its roots, and present ways for people to live that'll make them better off.
Instead, it's just a bunch of people sitting around, thinking of inconsequential subjects.
No wonder it's devolved into a bunch of dilettantes trying to figure out how to get paid for doing nothing.

The man who's a dreamer and never takes leave
Who thinks of a world that is just make-believe
Will never know passion, will never know pain.
Who sits by the window will one day see rain.

What did the traditionalists think of occultism? It feels more interesting to me than most of Christianity, but then everyone looks down on it for some reason

esotericism is the only "religion" that appeals to me since eastern shit is too exotic and christianity has too much baggage, i have no use for atheism either so looks like this is the path for me

the only benefit I see in the city is libraries and museums, even then you have to deal with them forcing shitty pop books and shitty new art on you.
internet can make up for it, at least for now. better to live in the country and be comfy and healthy with the trees, fresh air, sunlight, and nature spirits

hedonism

/ˈhiːd(ə)nJz(ə)m,ˈhɛːd(ə)nJz(ə)m/

noun

the pursuit of pleasure; sensual self-indulgence.

We all do things we think (or know) will give us bigger pleasure than any other alternative - meaning, we're all hedonistic.

The monk hides in solitude because that gives him peace, thus pleasure, thus hedonism; the hoe fucks, because that gives pleasure to the hoe, thus hedonism; the bookworm reads books, because books give the bookworm pleasure, thus hedonism; the NEETer NEETs because NEETing gives the NEETer pleasure, thus hedonism; the drug abuser abuses drugs, because abusing drugs gives the drug abuser pleasure, thus hedonism...I could go on forever, but I think faggots like you faggots get my point

divination doesn't work for me, and I don't know what the crystals are supposed to do, but meditation and occult rituals are comfy. I do the Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram and the Middle Pillar Exercise every day
