How do you keep enough motivation to finish a book?

So, fantasy takes place in a medieval-like setting, sci-fi is about a futuristic setting, waddya call genre fiction taking place in a Roman-like setting?

How do I into poetry?

Would a superhero story go down well with kids? Or is it a subject that should stay exclusive to comic books, movies and other visual mediums?
