hello, I thought I'd make a philosophy general just to get some basic discussion going on. feel free to discuss anything as long as it's related to philosophy such as what you are reading at the moment, your thoughts on it, asking for recommendations on a specific topic, discussing particular ideas, asking for beginner help

recently i've been reading a biography on kierkegaard; it's quite long, around 900 pages, but very detailed. it seems like more than any other philosopher i've read, kierkegaard writes his work half in blood and half in ink. the way his life has influenced his work is interesting, but I've also really enjoyed reading about his little quirks. for example, when ever he had coffee with his secretary, he would make his secretary pick out a mug for him, but not satisfied just with this, he would also ask his secretary for a reason on why he picked that particular mug. he would then proceed to fill that mug up right to the brim with sugar (not exaggerating at all) to go with his coffee. even other little quirks like the fact that he always wrote while standing up are quite interesting to me, it breathes a lot of life into his works
