Christianity is the most significant religious tradition in history because its whole theology, its internal logic, is a thorough working out of the traumatic event presented by the Death of God. It can be noticed that all failed Christian heresies shied away from the uncomprising metaphysical game which is played out in God's self-abolition through Christ - he was only an inspired prophet, he was subordinate to God, he wasn't a historical person, he was a gnostic mystic etc. Materialist atheism has joined this list of failed projects, because its coping mechanism to deal with abandoning ontology has been to revive an essentially paganist ethos - the plethora of western Buddhisms and New Age beliefs testify perfectly to this. In a disenchanted world, one is encouraged to conceptualise the human life as balanced, holistic, anti-dogmatic, belonging to a society which has to align itself to a proper natural/cosmic order to avoid chaos. If we examine the true Christian tradition, there can be nothing more alien than this paganism. The Christian community is the furthest thing from being "in balance", it is an aberration to the natural order. The participation in The Holy Spirit, the self-conscious material manifestation of the religious community after Christ, is effectively a violent universality justified only by its own terms. Being part of a Christian community, I participate in egalitarian/western values, human rights etc. by virtue of no logic imposed from outside, but by the very fact of being in this community. A common mantra in Christianity used to be that "only a suffering God can save us", referring to Christ's redeeming sacrifice on the Cross. However, the deepest level of Christian insight leads to the conclusion that only a dead God is capable of saving us, by reconciling oneself to the terrifying condition of his absence-manifestation in the material community presented by the Holy Spirit. Only by pursuing Christian theology to the end can we survive modernity, no other philosophy offers this key to us.

>Because of this Malcolm X, he had an ingenious insight which was at the top of contemporary philosophy. Namely, he wasn’t playing the Hollywood game, Roots. You remember that stupid TV series? The greatest honor for you blacks’ desire is to find some tribe in Africa. Oh, I’m from there. No. Of course, Malcolm X meant by the brutality of white men, being enslaved, we were deprived of our roots and so on.

>But he wrote about it. But this X paradoxically opens up a new freedom for us, all that white people want to be, not primitive tribal, but universal, creating their own space. We, black people, have a unique chance not to become, not to return to our particular [inaudible], to be more universal, emancipated than white people themselves. You see, this is the important thing for me.

>Possessing knowledge, possess also serenity like the mountain; be not distressed at the disasters of fortune. Knowledge without serenity is an unlighted candle, both together are like the bee's honey; honey without wax typifies the noble, wax without honey is only for burning.

>Abandon this abode of generation and corruption; leave the pit, and make for thy destined home; for on this dry heap of dust is a mirage, and fire appears as water. The man of pure heart unites the two worlds in one; the lover makes but one out of all three abodes.

Hey Anons, need some perspective. It seems that Zizek will essentially be doing something like a neo-reaction with a Leninist face type thing, right, in his new book. However, I've been to leftbook, for my sins, and they still insist either he's honestly 100% new left or unironically a Leninist. Like it might be that Zizek's politics are just too philosophically thought out and therefore useless, however many leftists including the inarticulate knee jerk meme ones insist in holding him up even now. Any ideas on why this is and how Zizek will move forward into the future?

>There is no "primordial" duality of poles in the first place, only the inherent gap of the One ... the primordial gap is thus not the polar opposition of two principles (masculine and feminine, light and dark, opening and closure...) but the minimal gap between an element and itself, the Void of its own place of inscription.

Is Zizek's ontology circumscribable within Kabbalah? Isn't his ontology /the/ ontology of the tsimtsum, of the primordial self-limitation of the absolute to allow for the existence of finite creatures? Isn't his entire edifice built on this difference in the absolute with itself constitutive of finitude?
