Alright, I finished my first book of 2024. Blindsight by Petter Watts.

I rate it 3.5/5.

What I liked: The scifi is great. There's a lot of behavioral science, biology, a bit of physics and philosophy as well. There's also a final chapter with legitimate scientific references to some of the elements and observations in the book. The author has put a lot of thought into it. I was a bit sceptical of the vampires in a scifi setting but he makes it work.
The aliens are also indeed very alien.

What I didn't like: It's sometimes difficult to visualize what the author describes. Weird way of writing and choice of words.
The characters are kind of flat and the dialogue is not that great. They interrupt each other a lot, none of them seem to have any social skills whatsoever.

I did enjoy it though and will read the sequel. That ending was great.
