What /lit/-related ways have you changed for the better since spending regular time on this board?

I have started writing poetry again, which I hadn't in more than a decade.

Can we have a writers' thread, /lit/? I normally get a lot of my creative juices flowing by going to /co/, but I'm a prose writer, not a comic creator, so I feel like this is the better board for such things.

What is everybody working on? How far along are you all in your most recent projects? Does anyone have anything they want to share?

Hi /lit/.

I'm new here. I've always liked books, novels specially.
BUT! For the past 7 years I haven't been able to read anything except Virtual Light (a cyberpunk novel).

Do you have any tips or advice to help me overcome my lack of interest in reading? I feel that sitting around in the computer makes me dumber and dumber and I'd like to increase my knowledge.

Thanks

I just had one of those feels.
You know which one I'm talking about.

After reading that one book that proved itself to be one of the best ones you've ever read.
How the stream of words never cease to captivate you.

And then.. It's suddenly over, and you get that feel.

I'm a simple guy, /lit/, I'm average in every aspect, yet I have one thing to be proud of.
My determination.

I've decided that I want to write a book.
Not to "become rich", but to prove that I can create something that can give "that feel".

What do you absolutely hate in literature? (this one should prove easy).
What do you love in literature?
What would you like to see in books more often?

yes, of course, i don't deny that plots can distinguish a novel from another, what I was trying to express was that plots in and of themselves aren't particular or unique to literature, thus making their appreciation over the traits that are unique to prose and poesy seem like it's some kind of disregard of the medium as a mere tool for storytelling.

anyway if anyone wants to talk about writing or literature my email is on the email field. i gots to go. you're all very interesting people, by the way.

OP here, thanks for everyone's recommendations, thanks A LOT.
I'll start with Of Mice and Men then.
I thought that people are going to rage and me and tell me to GTFO or call me a troll, because most of those books are considered to be classics, but I still haven't read them.

so i like my best friend but he has no friends and is gay so kind of off-limits and might make him more alone if i hit on him.

but i also like to reverse trap when im on my own sometimes so im hopefully he might like me once im good enough at it. i think im the only girl he likes because im boyish :3

so anyway while i have to restain myself i need some escapist /lit/. is there any good stuff where a guy is so hopeless with girls that he falls in love with his male best friend? erotic stuff would be cool too.

i find it hard to believe you've 'just checked this board out' & yet you call me by that name...

smart folks:
d&e - funniest of them and a really good poster overall
onionring - less funny than d&e and sometimes really immature. like instead of contributing just butting in with insults. but she's also really smart and that comes across when she actually makes the effort to post. it kind of varies from if she does that alot or not as much. i love these too so much.

isballe huppert - the extremely boring smart trip. anons that like to blame their own inability to promote good discussion on this board like to trump this poster as some sort of god and that everyone else is destroying the board. d&e is probably as smart but a million times more exciting a poster. 'historian' was basically the previous incarnation of ihuppert so hopefully this one leaves for good too.

fun but productive posters:
stagolee/quentin - these guys are the best pretty much the classic idea of a good tripfriend. knows his shit about books but also keeps the board hella fun and takes on the degenerate posters to keep back the degeneration they cause.

fabulous - a good tripfriend most of the time. doesnt post as much recently.

pure fun -

mogwai & virginia w00f - these guys can be disruptive but also post that crazy thread you mind need as refreshment every month or so.

probs the main people right now.
