Let's be honest, it isn't that great a book. Good, yes, I enjoyed reading it years ago. It isn't a book I am likely to read again, however, the way I will reread Moby-Dick or The Plays or even TBotNS. If Frankenstein disappeared entirely the world of letters would survive the loss of a somewhat dated genre piece (even if it is the first of its genre it is still just a Gothic Novel!) a lot better than the loss of M-D or the plays of Baco...er, I mean Shakespeare, that illiterate actor fellow...

Well, he's not your cuppa, then, so what? I dig him, as do many others. One man's meat is another man' poison.

I became a fan of the plays when I had to spend two weeks in a converted chicken coop in a remote area during a fierce winter. All I had was a complete collection of W.S. to read. I had never really gotten into him before except for the typical jr. high foray into Julius Caesar. At the end of those two weeks I realised that I held in my hands a book containing the greatest works ever written in the English language, The Plays.
