Whitehead is absolutely based, but it's unfortunately that he saw it necessary to include a God in his philosophy. As he himself describes the concept "God" as we are familiar with isn't applicable:

An an atheist I interpret Whitehead's category of the ultimate as creativity as describing a much more complex notion, that creativity is inherent in all things, and that creativity doesn't require consciousness or intent. In a sense "everything is art" not as a dialectic between creator(s) and creation(s), but the omnipresent verb creating that is very much related to the arrow of time. The cosmos is a self-creating tapestry not as a creative unity relating the many to its own unity, but rather a creative multiplicity where all strands co-create each other. I see Whitehead's God as a placeholder for the categorical Other that one relates to, with this Other described not in a totalizing way involving determinism and destiny, but the mutual creation of partially indetermined becomings. As human beings we form relationships with literally everything around us, personifying them in a way using our agent-based reasoning, and this includes our relationship with our life as a process.

Don't get me wrong, reason is absolutely an outstanding tool, but less-wrongness IN ITSELF cannot create. Irrationality and de-patterning is just as much as an essential tool for life, as it is just as much an omnipresent fact of experience and creativity. One needs an architecture that includes both, which as a personal praxis is die-hard skepticism and pessimism/criticism as well as imagination and optimism. It's a recipe for success behind every scientist, philosopher, and artist, as well as vibrant human being.

Once you believe that the future has been set in stone you have doomed yourself to the self-fulfilling propecy you have given yourself, reality gives no fucks about your anticipations or predictions. Just the smallest measure of uncertainty is enough to loosen up this sort of temporal psychosis. But if you assume that the future isn't written, that there's a wide range of possible futures including one that has an explosive vibrancy filled with creativity and life it becomes a quest to search for what kind of future you want to actualize and the determined courage to push towards it with every ounce of will one can muster. One becomes the author of their own story and the co-author of shared stories with others, all aspiring towards a common future that works to affirm and intensify all the best aspects of life.

It's because of the alienating effects of the commodification of human experience under capitalism, which has progressively colonized every aspect of human experience, reducing it to inter-exchangeable quantities. Capitalism is an unholy ecosystem of life-negation which transmutes human consciousness into heat-waste and dead matter for the purpose of transmuting human consciousness into heat-waste and dead matter, power for the sake of power, control for the sake of control. This process has reached its peak with the attention economy of internet-driven technocapital. While this mad power-lust is ancient, in capitalism the system of power-mongering has become fully automated, the hierarchs themselves reduced into replaceable tools to perpetuate the system. All of humanity is enslaved by it, even those who superficially "win" the most under its self-imposed rules - indeed such people are the biggest losers and the most exploited, fashioned into tools to exploit their fellow human beings.

It's a fucked situation that leads to despair and hatred on numerous fronts. If you uphold the lie of the system's necessity or goodness, you must find some scapegoat to blame for the life-negating effects of the system as a whole - this is what /pol/ and the alt-right is all about. If you become aware that capitalism is a global Doomsday device heading towards omnicide the result is often total despair and hopelessness, and one responds by becoming a doomer or partyboat nihilist who worships Doomsday as a hard cope.

The only way to survive the situational awareness of terminal-stage capitalism is absolutely disciplined self-awareness, to develop absolute courage and resolve in the face of the accelerating madness of capitalism. It requires skepticism and criticism but also imagination and speculation, to dare to dream of a possible future where capitalism doesn't exist and the life-affirming elements of humanity are strong enough to never give the illness of life-negation a chance to significantly grow. It necessitates a search for a path towards life-affirmation on all levels from one's individual situatedness that grows together with others of similar minds, the will to become a hero of life, humanity, and love, a warrior in the emerging army to fight against Doomsday. There are millions of us out there my friends, find your path with all the determination you can and you will find the others.

The final causality operative in self-creative process becomes efficient causality transcending the process. "For-one's-self-ness" becomes "for-the-others-and-for-the-totality." "Everything that in any sense exists has two sides, namely, its individual self and its signification int he universe" (MT 151). These two poles cannot be torn apart. Each finds its fulfillment in the other via their dialectical relation. Thus, becoming is for the purpose of being (signification in the universe,) and being is for the purpose of novel becoming (the emergent individual self).
