Hey lit, what are the defining features of postmodern poetry? I have a rough idea about the postmodern novel - self-reference, unreliable narrator, etc - but with postmodern poetry I don't even know where to begin. Can /lit/ shed some light?

In return, have my poetic doormat.

How long do/did the great poets spend on their poems? I know it'll vary an awful lot, depending on the poet and the poem, but I'd be interested to hear any nuggets of information anyone happens to know on the matter. How long might Yeats have spent on The Second Coming? Two hours, two years? What about Dante and his Divine Comedy? Both fact and speculation are fine. Discuss, /lit/!
