So this Jew thinks that there might be some kind of self-sufficient substance, which is a complete contradiction. If substance is the being in which a quality is impressed, it must be assumed that this being is contingent given that it depends on an essence that acts as an individuation principle, which makes it to be said substance and not any other thing.

So a substance that is not dependent on a principle of individuation (essence) that makes it to be what it is, is not a substance nor anything, it's non existence itself. Therefore God –I don't say he is– is more similar to an essence of the substance than to the substance itself.

On the top of that he says that the same substance is infinite and that it posseses all possible modes of being when a substance that ought to be truly unlimited would not be a substance because that is a form of determination already and so it is a limit.
