in general I think a lot of Bradbury's work captures a Midwestern feeling that's hard to communicate so it might just not work for you
Martian Chronicles has a little less of that and a lot of people like it, but I feel the same way toward it as you do toward Fahrenheit 451

apparently cat litter can also work as long as you don't have it touching the actual book
