Graduated last year with a B.A. in Anthropology at a State school in the Midwest. Worked for a year in retail living at my parents because I realized after they gave me the degree that I actually needed to apply myself to get a job. Finally landed an archaeology technician position handling GIS databases out West, then the virus hit and now I'm back with my parents until work can resume. I was pissed because I finally landed my dream job, then I had to indefinitely suspend my contract. But I found out I'm getting paid till the end of April and I've got a lot of free time to read, so it worked out alright I guess. Hope is to go to either an Ivy league or German-equivalent grad program in a year or two and pursue Mesopotamian archaeology and GIS database management. Don't really know if that's feasible with a State diploma/references and a 3.5 GPA but we'll see. I'm hoping I can get a really high GRE score, earn some recognition in these tech positions to pad my CV,and wow the committee at a potential interview. I was told by some professors that archaeology across the Pond is very much about name recognition and background, neither of which I have. I don't know if that's true or not but it's got me kind of nervous.
