Correct. I really like this little book. I'm working on reading it in the original Russian, which is incredibly slow going, I find the language really difficult. The concept of the holy fool seems to be lost on a lot of the reviewers, and I think that is one of the most important aspects.

Moscow to the End of the Line by Erofeev. It's one of my all time favorites and is a modern (20th century) take on the holy fool, which was relevant during the censorship of the time. It unfortunately wasn't published in Russia until the late 80s but it was available underground.

Despite the lines, where he says that all people who don't believe in god are idiots or something in those lines, I thought this book was fantastic. Wonderfully written with great humor and a disturbing ending.
