Is there a point trying to write if youre not naturally gifted? Is there a way to tell if you are or arent?

Im only 18 but Ive tried writing before and it hasn't come very naturally, should I just not bother, only write as an emotional release, and keep it to myself?

Fuck, i might be going through this, i read a couple of pages off of a book, didn't really understand what the fuck the author was trying to say, Now i have a headache and feel stupid. I also couldn't connect some shit about the book to other events of relevance in my life.
