In Bronze Age Mindset the author describes the sexual component of certain ancient Greek male relationships as a "misunderstanding and exaggeration":
>it was they who established the famous “Sacred Band,” the elite military unit that broke the power of Sparta. This group was formed of close friends, and you will always have too much love and compassion for a real friend to waiver in courage in front of him—but I doubt you understand what such friendship means or that you ever had such friend! In Athens the two friends Harmodius and Aristogeiton put down the tyranny through their schemes and their bravery: this is, you know, why all tyrants and totalitarians are suspicious of strong friendships between men. . . . And yes, I know the rumors that these friendships were sexual, but I believe this is misunderstanding and exaggeration promoted by the homonerds of our time, for reasons I will explain later.

If the idea that the relationships between Harmodius and Aristogeiton and the Sacred Band of Thebes were sexual is indeed a misunderstanding, it is not one promoted only by "the homonerds of our time" but by the original Greek sources:

Now Harmodius, a man in the flower of his youth, of great beauty, was in the power of one Aristogeiton, a citizen of a middle condition that was his lover [erastḗs]. He apprehending it (as lovers use) with a great deal of anguish and fearing the power of Hipparchus, lest he should take him away by force, fell presently, as much as his condition would permit, to a contriving how to pull down the tyranny. . . . Thus was the enterprise first undertaken upon quarrel of love.
