I usually take recommendations from /lit/ and regret reading them afterwards

I'm 30 and only recenty smoked somewhat -last time was many months ago, so rarely I smoked that it is hard to call it a habit in the first place- and I find it utterly amazing how much my body craves the damn thing sometimes. The addiction is real. It's not too hard for me to resist, but I really understand (and pity) all those people who want to quit but simply can't. I'm telling you, it's been fucking months since I last smoked, how the fuck are those impressions in my brain still there

I like how Schopenhauer likes to make quotations all the time from at least 4 different languages and my edition does not contain any fucking footnotes

Should I read Herodotus before Plato to get some crucial contextual information? I already have some knowledge about ancient Greece, never read Herodotus though
